Your Job: Maine Protections When You Get Called to Active Duty or Required Military Training

National Guard and Reservists of the United States Armed Forces who receive orders for active duty or required military training which require you to take leave from your job are afforded some protections under Maine law.

Your Professional or Occupational Licenses: When Called to Active Duty

National Guard or the U.S. Armed Forces Reservists are afforded certain protections under Maine law when called to active duty for more than 30 days.

  • Your professional or occupational license, certificate or registration is automatically extended during your active duty and for 6 months after.
  • No continuing education requirements may be required of you during your active duty and for 6 months after.
  • If you are in the Maine Lobster Apprentice Program the number of required days and hours of practical fishing experience will be reduced.
