VA Suicide Prevention Program Facts About Veteran Suicide (July 2016)

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) 2016 veteran suicide report may inform suicide prevention programs, policies, and evidence-based care. Female and older veterans are at elevated risk for suicide. Through strategic community and federal partnerships, the VA continues to address veteran suicide prevention and care.  The 2016 report, which updates the 2010 report, examined over 50 million veteran records from all 50 U.S. states and the 2010 report examined over 3 million veteran records from 20 states, respectively.
