Competing in the job market, be it full of opportunity or not, often takes much time, thorough preparation, and perseverance.  It's important to effectively communicate skills and work experience, sometimes be willing to compromise expectations to "get your foot in some doors," and know if you qualify for veteran preferences based on your military service.
